Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that 47 international companies are interested in developing the 1,600 MW seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, including a 1,000 MW battery storage system. Scheduled for phased commissioning between 2027 and 2029, the project will generate 4.5 TWh annually by 2030, cut natural gas use by 36 billion cubic feet, and reduce carbon emissions by 8 million tonnes yearly. This will raise clean energy’s share in Dubai’s mix to 34%, surpassing the 25% target.
