Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has issued tenders for two major High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) projects to connect the Eastern and Central Operating Areas (EOA and COA) of Saudi Arabia. The first project links Nariyah IPP to Zulff BSP 9064 over 508 km, while the second connects Qurayyah-4 BSP/Hajer-2 IPP to Khari Industrial City BSP 9067 over 466 km. Both projects will operate at +500kV with a 3000MW capacity. SEC has also recently awarded HVDC interconnection projects between the Southern and Central Operating Areas.
