Shanghai Electric Group has signed a cooperation agreement with Masdar for the 2GW Al Sadawi Solar Photovoltaic Project in Saudi Arabia, part of Round 5 of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). The project, awarded in November 2024 to a Masdar-led consortium including GD Power and KEPCO, will be developed on a build, own, and operate basis with SPPC. Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in Q2 2027.
