EDF Power Solutions and Korea Western Power Co. (KOWEPO) signed a Joint Development Agreement with EWEC for the 1.5 GW Al Zarraf Solar PV IPP in Al Dhafra, UAE. The project will power ~160,000 homes, cut CO₂ emissions by 2.4 million metric tonnes annually, and contribute 5% toward EWEC’s 2030 emissions reduction target. It marks Abu Dhabi’s fifth large-scale solar PV plant, supporting its goal of 10GW solar capacity by 2030.

Powered by 4 GW of solar and wind energy (completion by mid-2026), the plant aims for first product availability in 2027 and secured $8.4B in financing.
