Masdar and EMSTEEL have completed a pilot project in Abu Dhabi using green hydrogen to produce green steel, the first of its kind in the MENA region. The project, which extracts iron from ore using green hydrogen, has begun producing certified green steel. This milestone supports the UAE’s goal to become a green steel production hub and aligns with the country's Low Carbon Hydrogen Policy and National Hydrogen Strategy, driving sustainability and energy transition.
